Further a new study has revealed that replacing meat by mushrooms can help in reducing weight and overall body fat. A one-year trial was conducted on white button mushrooms by researchers from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the US. They recruited 73 adults, mostly women in their forties. The researchers found that subjects who ate one. cup i.e 128 mg of mushrooms per day in place of meat lost on an average seven pounds i.e. about three kilos while showing improvement in body consumption as compared to subjects who ate their standard diets. Further for those who can not avoid meat, scientist are working for mushrooms that can produce meaty flavors in food.
Further mushrooms have low G|I between 10-15 which causes the blood sugar to spike at lower rate and hence they are considered excellent food for diabetics. .Mushroom make up for healthy snack and can be grilled or roasted.
